Maryland teens buy movie tickets, take photos with stolen credit card, police say

By Daniel Arkin, Staff Writer, NBC News

A group of Maryland teenagers ? perhaps taking a page from the blockbuster ?Identity Thief? ? allegedly treated themselves to a night at the movies last Wednesday on a woman?s missing credit card, according to police.

The four alleged fraudsters left behind what may be a proverbial smoking gun: a strip of photo booth snapshots in which they can be seen posing with the prized piece of plastic, police said.

An unidentified woman reported her credit card missing on June 6, one day after she went shopping near the Regal Movie Theater in the Crofton area of Anne Arundel County, Md., according to police. Investigators soon discovered a fraudulent transaction made at the theater on June 5.

Surveillance footage recorded at the Regal Movie allegedly shows the group of teenagers purchasing tickets from a box office kiosk with the card, county officials said in a statement on Facebook.

The unidentified teens then took a series of shots in a vintage photo booth in the theater?s lobby ? including two snapshots in which one of the teens can be seen holding the missing credit card over his face, police said.

The group left the photos and the credit card behind, NBC Washington reported.
