Union Parish Deputies Make Cocaine Arrest

UNION PARISH -- Union Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a Marion resident and charged him with possession of crack cocaine.

Darandall E. Boyette, 25, was jailed Monday afternoon at the Union Parish Detention Center. His bond was set at $7,500 Tuesday afternoon. State Probation and Parole placed a hold on Boyette because of a previous conviction.

Boyette was one of two passenger's in a car stopped for speeding 74 mph and a 55 mph zone. While the deputy was questioning the driver, he noticed that Boyette was moving around a lot and sweating a lot. Agents with the sheriff's Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs were called to the scene to search the vehicle and the passengers.

Deputies reported that Boyette was asked several times if he had any narcotics on his person. He finally dropped in pants and bent over exposing a package between his buttocks. Six cocaine rocks? weighing a half-gram were found in the cigar package, the deputies stated.

The driver of the car was given a warning ticket. Boyette was the only one arrested.
